Christianitytoday.com recently posted their annual “Top Albums of the Year” list for 2003 and we’re happy to report that Derek’s debut album, “She Must and Shall Go Free”, was voted the 5th best album of the year by their panel. Here’s a snippet of what they said about SMASGF:

“It’s a challenging message of grace and faith that more Christians need to hear… Caedmon’s Call’s loss is our gain with an entire album’s worth of Webb’s bold and insightful songwriting.”

We’d also like to thank the panel for using their ears and their brains to compile their list, not just sales numbers or radio airplay statistics. Of their selection process they said “…the emphasis is not on radio singles, but projects that are consistently enjoyable for their entire duration.” How refreshing.

All Florida shows scheduled for the first week of November have been cancelled due to the passing of Derek’s grandmother. From derekwebb.com:

as some of you may have heard, i’ve had to cancel this weekend’s shows in florida due to the death of my grandmother day before yesterday. i’ll be traveling to memphis this weekend to be with family and to attend the funeral. rest assured that we’re working on getting these shows back on the books and will certainly let you know of new dates/times. on behalf of my family, i ask for your prayers during this time. for those of you who have heard my stories about her at concerts this last year (and her story in the song ‘dance’), at least we know that now she’s not having to wait a week between days to dance… thanks for all your prayers and understanding. hope to see you soon-
