Announcing IndieRiver.net: Our Bootleg Trading Service!

We here at [derekwebb.net] are excited and pleased to announce IndieRiver.net, our BitTorrent-based bootleg trading service! Simply put, we’re using BitTorrent to help us share bootlegs across the Internet. If you need a tutorial on how to do all that, check out Mark Smiley’s HOWTO on downloading bootlegs with BitTorrent and processing them into MP3s and what-not over on squarepegalliance.net.

I will be sharing all the Derek shows that I’ve taped and received in trade over the next few days; I already have a show I taped back in 2003 [in the old house show days ;)] up on IndieRiver. If you ever grabbed the MP3 I posted of Sandra singing “The High Countries” up on Ragamuffin, this is from that show … so you know that the sound is really good.

So take a moment and sign up for IndieRiver: keeping you downstream.

There appears to be some sort of web site bug. At the bottom of each page here I’m seeing:

home journal chat photos songs art rumor forum
    songs
We’ve somehow managed to stuff everything we know about each of derek’s songs onto this site for your reading enjoyment

    I Want a Broken Heart

words and music by: derek webb
appears on: I See Things Upside Down

    lyrics:

I’ve got faith in the bank and money in my heart
I’ve got a calloused place where your ring used to be, my love
    I’ve traded naked and unashamed
For a better place to hide
For a righteous mask, a suit of fig leaves and lies

    chorus 1:
I thought the cattle on a thousand hils
Was not enough to pay my bills
And I fell in love with those who proved me wrong
And now I want a broken heart

Now there’s a great pad lock
On the place where I was free
And I’m feeling bad from swallowing that key
Now I work real hard but I mostly call in sick
Of a broken back from the ground fighting back at me

    chorus 2:
I cannot look you in the eye
So I check the knots on my disguise
‘Cause I fell in love with fashion in the dark
And now I want a broken heart

    chorus 3:
I’ve got alibis for every crime
A substitute to do my time
‘Cause Your heart breaks enough on both our parts
So now I want a broken heart
Now I want a broken heart
Now I want a broken heart

Also, are the places where someone without access to iTunes can download
    the podcasts, bootlegs, etc.?

Thanks for the heads up, Larry.

iTunes isn’t needed to download bootlegs from IndieRiver, and there are several podcasting clients available. What kind of machine are you running?
