Derek and Geof on The Ringing Bell

Back in late February, I was in Nashville for the weekend, and I had the opportunity to sit down and talk with Derek about The Ringing Bell. Understand as you listen that some things may have been revealed since then that make me sound like a complete idiot, but … hey, isn’t that part of the fun? [And yes, I sound like I'm high, sick, and hyper. It's awesome.]

I’ll chop this up later into smaller pieces and put them together so that discussions about individual songs will be available, but … I’m already overdue in getting this to you. Enjoy. If nothing else, you’ll understand “Can’t Be Without You” better after listening to this.

  1. I’m sorry, I’m still gonna back up Derek, I love him to death, but this record seems to miss the mark a bit… After listening to the interview, it almost seems as if he had a deadline and just kind of rushed this album. I LOVE the last song, and a few others, but for the most part, I’m relatively disappointed, I still love Derek and a lot of the lyrics, I just feel like it would have been better if he had more time to make it…

  4. Thanks for the interview. I am singing “This Too Shall be Made Right” in church tomorrow and was looking for bg about why Derek wrote the song.

To Kelly, from the Urban Dictionary: “term used by pilots. when accelerating quickly [pulling g-force], the throttle is pushed all the way to the panel and the throttle lever (ball) actually touches the panel (wall). Hence, balls to the wall.”
