Stockholm Update: First Artifact Revealed!

at around 12:15AM on day two the first artifact and the details about it were revealed. Robert Gay, whose name you will find listed on www.paradiseisaparkinglot.com as the finder of the first nashville artifact, posted on a message board about the artifact.

My name is Robert Gay. I’m a 20-year-old student and musician, but more relevantly, I’m the guy who snagged the first “artifact” this morning at Ugly Mugs in East Nashville. It was a silver thumb drive, printed with the barcode/heart logo, and in theory a photo of me holding it should serve as my profile picture here.

My story’s pretty simple — after deciphering the clues and driving to the coffeeshop, I asked for the fake drink and was given the thumb drive, which contained the “in San.wav” file which is now hosted on paradiseisaparkinglot.com. Also on the drive were 2 images: one was a square image of the barcode-heart labeled “dwss.jpeg,” which I presume to be the album’s cover. The other image was a snapshot of an eye — in fact, the eye photo from the rss stream is a cropped version of my image, which contained additional instructions for me.

Upon realizing that all 5 of us must have received different photos or instructions, I’m willing to bet that the other 4 artifact finders had the 4 remaining rss items contained on their thumbdrives. I have the feeling there’s some kind of clue to be found here.

I’m happy to answer any other questions you have, as well as to give you more proof that I am who I say I am.

-Robert

PS: I was notified that I will recieve “a tier 3 preorder of Stockholm Syndrome and 2 tickets to the Black Eye Tour.

What are these preorder tiers?
How many tiers are there?
What is the Black Eye Tour?

Stay tuned for the answers!

So, by looking at everything so far, pictures of Apple Pie and records, the next clue is going to be The Day the Music Died, it has to be, think about it, Paradise is a parking lot, and those pics, we need to figure this out

  2. Remington says:

anybody deciphered the bar code yet? or know how?

  3. Kenny says:

That mockingbird… I’d really like to live near there now. Brazil it’s a little far from these pen drives I guess. But let’s wait to hear more about it.

Good luck for all who can seek the glues!

    ;)

I Googled the phrases from the .wav clips that are available online and one of the results was a wikipedia article on Patty Hearst. All the phrases appear in this wikipedia article.

Who is Patty Hearst, you ask? She is one of the most famous examples of…you guessed it…Stockholm Syndrome.

I believe this wikipedia article is going to help us put all the stems together.

The bar code has been deciphered by a member of the re-launched fanforum ‘She Must and Shall No Longer Exist’ by a member named “ballenp.” This is what he says-

I attempted to “decode” the barcode as morse code, and here’s what I’ve got (plus sign is short, equal sign is long)…

    ++ I
    = T
    + E
    + E
    == M
    + E
    =+ N
    =+ N
    + E
    =+++ B
    + E
    + E

So there it is. For what it’s worth. Looks remarkably close to “I Tennessee”

  6. Bill says:

    Robert…you disobeyed instruction #7.

  7. Dan says:

Is this all just a big marketing ploy? Or is the record label controversy for real?

As mentioned in the comments section of the relevant article, it seems similar to what Nine Inch Nails did a few years ago.

  8. Josh P says:

Both. The controversy was/is for real, and this is how they are releasing the controversial song since the label didn’t want it on the album. I would guess that the label is ok with all of it…more hype equals more sales.

  9. Alaina says:

Are you all @ derekwebb.net going to post some new updates??

  10. Micah says:

no kidding! I’ve been checking everyday!

  11. Annoyed says:

This is getting really annoying. Release your album already, Derek. Who are you… Encyclopedia Brown or something?

  12. Eric says:

I just got a download of a premixed version of “Heaven” from Stockholm Syndrome by donating to the “Save Paste” Paste Magazine fundraiser. www pastemagazine com or leave your email and I can try and send you a copy.

  13. Zak says:

Hey Eric…would you send that to me? I’d really appreciate it. My email is zrobertson[at]gmail.com

  14. Lyle says:

My question is this. How did his label let him give away ‘Mockingbird’ and ‘The Ringing Bell’ for free but they won’t let him release ONE controversial song?

Seems like the label would get more cash from the controversy…

  15. Annoyed says:

Wow, we’ve gotten five audio stems of one song over a week. Hey, maybe we’ll get the whole album assembled by 2020!

    Just release the album, Derek.

  16. Brian says:

are y’all not posting because of rule #7??

  17. Bored says:

Hey could you let Derek know that this is getting tiresome.

  18. Give us a break already. says:

Can anybody update this site, please??
