The Ampersand Tour

You’ve probably seen it in the sidebar or in our posts on SquarePegAlliance.net, but if not, here’s where Derek [and Sandra!] will tour The Ampersand EP, amongst other things, in the next few weeks:

And before anyone asks: yes, my recording gear and I will be at that Birmingham show. [You wanna drive me back from Birmingham that night? Cool!]

Derek With Caedmon’s

  1. Hey, want to hear what Derek’s solo sets with Caedmon’s sounded like on this tour? We’ve got a recording from the Dyersburg show for you to check out.
  2. Many folks have asked us, “Is this the last hurrah of Derek with Caedmon’s Call?” I think the best answer for that is, “We don’t know, but I don’t think they know, either.” All I know is that they looked like they were having a heck of a lot of fun playing music together, and we all know that Caedmon’s just doesn’t play that many shows anymore. If you ask me to put a prediction down in print and sign my name to it, I’d bet on both another record and another full tour. As to whether Derek will play with the band any more this year, who knows? When we know, though, we’ll tell ya. Cool? Cool.

Derek Webb and Donald Miller

A few years ago I made a trip down to Birmingham, AL to hear Derek Webb play and Don Miller speak. It was a great evening, and I’m excited to announce that it’s going to happen again.

Here’s the Info:

Cordova, TN - Hope Presbyterian Church

Tickets are $20 and $25 at the door and group tickets are available at $17 for 15 more.

Any help in plugging this event it would be greatly appreciated. They can deliver the posters and post cards to you to hand out, if you are interested.

More Cancellations

Derek’s really sick. The NYC show on Friday is being postponed, and I doubt they’ll play Saturday in PA at this point [although Derek hasn't said that they won't]. Also, them being sick may delay the pre-order on The Ampersand EP. Patience and understanding are requested. That, or I’m sending Derek to come and cough all over you.

And now….

Now, Wednesday’s show in Vienna, VA will be sans Derek as well. That’s right. No more show. Comfort one another in this time of woe and get ready to rub it in next time you see him ;)

No Sandra on Wednesday

Wednesday’s show in Vienna, VA was supposed to have Derek’s better half out with him, but with some conflicts that have come up, she won’t be there. She’ll be at the shows on Friday and Saturday, though. Contain your disappointment and give Derek a hug at the show if you go, ’cause he’ll be missing her worse than you are. Promise. :)

Tuesday: Actually, now they’re all sick. So there’s no show on Wednesday.

Piping Fresh Bootlegs

As I noted back when I posted Derek’s tour dates for the fall, we’ve got people that record Derek’s shows. That means that you have some new Derek shows to listen to:

And yes, we shared Sandra’s sets from those nights, too. You can see them, as well as the rest of the recordings available on IndieRiver.net, on squarepegalliance.net’s Square Peg Concert Bootleg page.

Happy downloading. And if the word BitTorrent is foreign to you, we’ve got a HOWTO to help you get up to speed. Or you can always ask questions in the comment section below.

Two Quick Notes to Start the Morning

Mornin’, everyone … coffee’s over there.

  1. In case you missed it, “Name” showed up right at the open of last night’s Grey’s Anatomy, right after the previously-on stuff. True to Derek’s prediction that he’s been making in shows, there was a couple depicted as … post-coitus. Sexy-sounding song for a sexy show, I guess.
  2. Friday morning’s are my morning to check out Derek’s tour dates page for updates, and I came across this note for tonight’s planned show at VCU: “Due to unfortunate circumstances on the campus of VCU we are forced to cancel the show with Derek and Sandra schedule for: Friday, November 9, 2007 Pace Student Center Virginia Commonwealth University Please accept our apologies, we will be sure to make it up to you when it’s possible for them to put on the event.” We hope all is well at VCU.

More news later today.

More 2007 Tour Dates Added

We thought that Derek’s fall touring would end in mid-November, but it looks like we’re wrong …

Because some might ask, no, Derek and Sandra are not playing on the Andrew Peterson Christmas tour this year.

Fall Touring

Derek has a brief run of shows on the West Coast coming up this week:

All those shows are solo. The shows he’ll do late in October through mid-November, though, are a full band, with Sandra. [We don't know who the band is yet, but when we know, we'll tell you.]

Hopefully people will record shows. I know that I’ll tape all the ones I attend … :)
