Notes from the Road could there possibly be more great movies on tv today? first was 'back to the future' (which we all know is one of my FAVORITE series of movies), then was 'goonies,' then was 'leap of faith' with steve martin (the end always makes me cry. it's really moving, believe it or not), now 'tootsie' is on. it's been raining fiercely all day, so this is totally perfect. i had a really interesting day yesterday. a great friend of mine got married. his name is lamar shrader, and i met him through young life in southwest houston. he came on as a leader while i was in high school in spring, texas. he has been there for some years, and has affected more people than he could ever know. he has this amazing magnetic quality about him. he has this ability to make those around him feel so loved and accepted. he's had huge influence on me over the years, teaching me a great deal about humility. i'm so thankful for him. he married an amazing girl. the former dana white. i really don't know dana very well, but i know so much about her. i am good friends with her sister andee, who talks often of her (and goes to baylor, by the way. sick 'em bears). apparently dana has had an equal effect on those around her over the years. they are so blessed to have each other. lamar asked me to sing something in the wedding. it was an incredible ceremony. i was so honored to have been a part of it. marriage has really been on my mind lately. it hits me every so often. isn't that funny? lil' me thinking about marriage. as i'm sure many guys do, some friends and i have talked often about this killer house that we're all going to live in together one day, and grow old as bachelors. God only knows. the other thing that i've been thinking about is thanksgiving. it's fairly unbelievable how much different things are this thanksgiving from last year. so much can happen in a year. so much can happen in a day. God is bringing to the surface so many things that i've taken for granted for so long. i have so much to be thankful for. we don't realize in the western world how very much we have to be thankful for. i'm so humbled this thanksgiving, and i thank God for His many blessings in my life. i pray that God would bring those things to the surface in your life as well this thanksgiving, and that we would all see God's hand in our lives for what it is. thanks be to God. thanks to you for reading. i'll talk to you soon.
