well here i am two months from my last journal entry. nothing new under the sun indeed. i truly hope to pay more attention to my journal here. so i do apologize, but this has been an exceptionally busy couple of months. i suppose these are busy months for anyone being that it's the holiday season, so no excuses. since we've spoken last, sandra and i successfully completed a club tour, during which we worked hard and feel pretty good about what we accomplished. hopefully encouraged some, hopefully challenged some. we were certainly both encouraged and challenged. i was proud of my little message board. i couldn't pay as much attention as i would have liked, but what i caught was really good discussion. i had intended to write a journal or two regarding some of our experiences on the club tour (e.g. the cancellation of the club show @ the new union in minneapolis) but unfortunately time slipped away pretty quickly. i may still try to devote some time to that. the whole new union debacle was quite interesting actually. sandra almost finished a very well worded letter to the new union that i may post at some point in the near future. needless to say, neither sandra nor i have plans to ever play there in the future, pending some serious policy/philosophy changes on their part. regardless, on the whole we had a great experience. caedmon's call will still be on somewhat of a hiatus during the spring, so that puts sandra and me back on the road. we're currently making plans for our 2002 tour, which will probably include some clubs but will focus more primarily on colleges and universities (surprise). also a good chance that we'll be touring with members the band 'the normals,' as they'll be in support of the release of their new record (which is fantastic). all in all, it should be a really good time. we'll keep you posted of the details.

so the rumor is that caedmon's will be working on a new record during the spring and possibly into the summer, so i suppose i'll have to come off the road for at least a few weeks. in a strange way i'm looking forward to starting a new project. because of the disjointed fashion that 'in the company of angels' was recorded (none of us around at the same times, flying in and out of houston 24 hours at a time), it will be nice to get in the studio and really work a little bit. speaking of getting into the studio, i have also stumbled across some vision regarding a studio project (and probably an accompanying book). however, it's not quite as simple as that. the project that i'd like to do may take another good year of study and writing to prepare for, and will hopefully transcend just one record, book, and tour. i feel as though i may be entering into a new season of writing and cultural interaction different than what i've experienced before. i'm just beginning work with some of my mentors here in nashville on preparing for it, and it's all just in the talking phases. please pray for me as i enter into this strange and exciting new place. again, we will try to keep you posted on what is happening and when resources might become available for your consumption.

in the mean time, sandra and i will be trying to catch up with the indelible grace tour that will take place sometime in the spring or summer as well. the indelible grace records are ones that we have contributed to and believe very deeply in. it's taking on the characteristics a movement, and we're proud to be a part of it. please visit the indelible grace website (www.igrace.com) in order to learn more about hymnody, and how you might be a part of reviving the rich tradition of hymns in our churches. well i hope that all of you have restful holidays. we will be with family until after the new year, after which i have every intention of checking back in and giving you the latest. thanks for your patience, as always. i will try to be more visible on the message board in anyone would like to chat. take time during this Christmas season to stop and gaze upon the glory of Christ. i pray during this time that you and i would know the freedom of having our every need met in the Gospel.

take care & God bless-
