Beloved

/She Must and Shall Go Free/ Appears on: She Must and Shall Go Free

Lyrics:

Beloved these are dangerous times
‘Cause you are weightless like a leaf from the vine
And the wind has blown you all over town
There is nothing holding you to the ground

And now you would rather be
A slave again than free from the law

[Chorus]
Beloved listen to me
Don’t believe all that you see
And don’t you ever let anyone tell you
That there’s anything that you need
But me

Beloved these are perilous days
When your culture is so set in its ways
That you will listen to salesmen and thieves
Preaching other than the truth you’ve received
Because they are telling lies
For they cannot circumcise your hearts

[Chorus]

Beloved there is nothing more
No more blessings and no more rewards
But the treasure of my body and blood
Given freely to all daughters and sons

Derek on the song:

This is basically a love song the way I see it from Christ the groom singing to his bride which is us the church warning lovingly to stay away from people who try to add things to the gospel and I’ll say it like this by way of introduction: please, please if you hear nothing else this evening never ever let anyone create a need for you never try to tell you that there’s anything that you need in order to achieve a deeper level of spirituality in order to get God’s blessings to you in order to receive rewards in heaven never let anyone try to tell you that you need anything that they, they can offer you anything that you don’t already possess in Christ. Jesus is all that there is. It’s really important that you know that. There is no more than Jesus and that is, that is more that you can imagine I hear terms like “God has the flood waters of blessings that he wishes to flow into your life if only you would do this or that if only you would systematically pray a prayer or live a certain way God will do this for you”. Man that’s not true I just, I just…please don’t be deceived by modern day Judiazers who would seek to add something to the gospel to say yes you have Jesus but in order to be truly blessed in order for God to be truly pleased with you, you have to also do this um please reject that kind of teaching it goes contrary to the gospel and we must defend the gospel…that’s what the song is about, just the sufficiency of Christ. The floodwaters of blessings have already been given to you and they were given to you the day that you received Christ, the day that you obtained his righteousness as your own was the day that you received all the blessings, all the rewards all the inheritance, there is nothing more please never let anyone tell you that there is…
